GAIUTRA BAHADUR is an essayist, critic, and journalist. She is the author of Coolie Woman: The Odyssey of Indenture, which was shortlisted in 2014 for the Orwell Prize. Her work has appeared in the NYT Book Review, NYRB, The New Republic, The Guardian, The Nation, Lapham’s Quarterly, Dissent, Boston Review, among others. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Arts, Culture, and Media at Rutgers University in Newark.
